TA Efficiency EIIR Full Size Medal

This Efficiency Medal is an oval silver medal (obverse) the monarch's effigy (reverse) inscribed "For Efficient Service". Instead of the usual simple ring suspension, there was now a fixed suspension bar decorated with a pair of palm leaves surmounted by a scroll inscribed "TERRITORIAL" or "MILITIA" (for UK volunteer forces ) while overseas forces had the name of the country inscribed. The medal consolidated the awards to other ranks throughout forces of Britain and the commonwealth, the basic qualification was 12 years continuous efficient service, but war service and peacetime in West Africa counted double. Additional bars were awarded for further periods of five years continuous efficient service.
