Commissioned by the RAF Administrative Apprentices' Association, AWARD is proud to issue the Royal Air Force Apprentices' Commemorative Medal 1920 - 1993, to mark the centenary of the Royal Air Force Apprentice Training Scheme and to honour the vital and exemplary role played by ex-apprentices, as the Royal Air Force faced the challenges of new technologies and sophisticated procedures, throughout most of the 20th century. Many of these young men, who came to be regarded as the backbone of the Royal Air Force, gave their lives in service for their country, both on the ground and in the air, and their contribution will never be forgotten.
